Capstone Course Experiences

The Capstone Course Experiences are a great way for students to engage in a career area of their interest. Through these courses, students are exposed to real world experiences while applying skills taught in our classrooms.

Important details to note about the programs:

  • Grades 11 and 12
  • Double-block experience
  • Full-year program
  • Students must provide their own transportation.
  • Meet all requirements for a specific program and be on track to graduate

College Visits

Sophomores, juniors, and seniors are permitted up to two college visits per school year. To ensure your absence is recorded as a college visit rather than a parent day, the following steps must be completed:

  1. Schedule an appointment with the college or university you plan to visit.

  2. Bring confirmation of your appointment to the Student Services Office at least 24 hours prior to your visit.

  3. Pick up a College Visit Form from Student Services. This form must be signed by both a parent/guardian and a representative from the college during your visit.

  4. Have a parent/guardian call the Attendance Office to report the absence as usual. The absence will initially be recorded as a parent day until the completed form is returned.

  5. Return the signed College Visit Form on the school day following your visit (your first day back at LHS).

Important Reminders:

  • College Visit Forms will not be issued on the day of the visit. Please plan ahead.

  • College visit forms may also be used for military or workforce training visits if the experience cannot be completed outside of school hours.
